You already know who you want on this job.

Finding them still means a WhatsApp group and someone else's rate.

You've probably never even been in the same room.

Post a brief.

Mauka mila.

mauka is where Indian productions hire media people. You post a brief. Freelancers reply with a fee, a timeline and a sample for that job. No assistant in the middle. No rate decided in a group chat.

Free to join. We start in Mumbai. Every craft is welcome.

What this is not

A few things we refused to ship, because they don't fix how work gets hired.

This isn't Naukri for films.

A brief always has craft, language, city, budget, dates and usage. Pitches sit next to each other because they answer the same six things.

This isn't an open call.

Talent see briefs that match what they actually do. You get six pitches a month, so people don't spray and pray.

This isn't another feed.

No followers, no posting for the algorithm. Fit Score orders the list, and you can see why.

For productions

You need one voice. Not forty inboxes.

Agencies, corporate AV, e-learning, D2C brands, small houses. You know the read. Right now you brief an assistant, wait, and take whoever replies.

Every brief has six things filled in: craft, language, city, budget, dates, usage. That's how you can actually compare pitches.

Twelve pitches, one screen, sorted by fit.

Fit is a reason, not a vibe

Each pitch shows language, grade, budget overlap and city. If something is a partial match, it says which part.

Every pitch has a sample

A 30-second read of your script, a style frame, a one-page take. You hear the work before you pay.

Cheapest is not the default

Fit Score sorts the list. Sort by price and the page says you switched.

Money sits in escrow

You fund the hire, then release it in milestones as you approve the work.

Same six fields on every pitch. What's left is the actual difference.
For talent

You set the price. You send the sample. You rate them back.

Voice artists, writers, 3D and motion people. You're working. The job still arrives in a WhatsApp group, at a number someone else picked.

Briefs come to you, ranked by your forte.

Your number, not a bidding war

You quote your fee and your turnaround. We don't push you down, don't run a reverse auction, don't stick a cheapest-first badge on anyone.

Six pitch tokens a month

On purpose. You spend a token on the brief that's actually yours, and the buyer knows it cost you something.

You rate the production

Payment, scope, commitment, communication, respect. Talent don't get star ratings. Buyers do.

Your dates, your status

Available, tentative or blocked. Looking, casually looking, or not. You set both. Nobody pitches around it.

Who mauka is for

If you make ads, films or series, you're on here.

If the work ends up on a screen or in a speaker, there's a brief for you. Each craft has its own fields, so a colourist isn't filling a voice-artist form.

Mumbai opens first. Voice, screenplay & copy, and 3D / motion will have the most people on day one, but every craft above can join now. Grades are Emerging, Working, Established, Marquee. Four dots. No colour coding to decode.

Trust & safety

Escrow you can see. Craft a panel has actually checked.

Milestone escrow

The full fee goes in when you hire and releases as you approve each milestone. Talent can see it is funded before starting; you can see exactly what is still held.

Vetted by a craft panel

A Vetted badge means real people reviewed real work. Grades and vetting are separate, so a newer artist with a strong reel isn't hidden.

Usage rights on the brief, not in a DM

Every brief states where the work runs and for how long. Nobody discovers a year later that a read became a TV campaign.

Questions

Questions we keep getting

What does mauka cost?

Posting and pitching are free. We take nothing on the first twelve months of released work. After that it's 1%, and only if you hire the same person again through mauka. The artist's quote is what they get. First 20 production houses: free for a year. First 1,000 talents: free, permanently.

How is a pitch different from a job application?

It's a fee, a turnaround, a short note and a sample made for that brief. You get six a month. Nobody can spam every listing.

Do I have to hire the cheapest pitch?

No. The list defaults to Fit Score. If you sort by price, the page tells you that's what you're looking at.

When does money leave my account?

When you hire. The full amount goes into escrow and comes out as you approve milestones. Talent can see it's funded before they start.

Are talent star-rated?

No. They get a craft grade (Emerging, Working, Established, Marquee) and, if a panel has seen their work, a Vetted badge. Stars go the other way: talent rate productions on payment, scope, commitment, communication and respect.

I'm not in Mumbai.

Join anyway. Remote briefs work from day one. Pune, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Kochi are next. How soon your city opens depends on how many people from there are on the list.
